Best Screw Piling In Melbourne

Screw Piles were used in the early 1900’s and are once again back in use. In the last 20 years, there has been substantial and steady growth in the use of screw piles in civil construction.
One of the main advantages of modern screw piles for use in civil construction is the wide range of foundation elements and geometries available. The main benefits of screw pile foundations include – shorter project times, ease of installation, ease of access, reduction of the carbon footprint, ease of removal when the foundations are no longer required, reduced risk to the workforce, and reduced costs.

  • What Steel Screw Piles Are:

Steel Screw Piles are an increasingly popular and most effective foundation option available in the domestic and commercial construction industry. They provide a cost-effective and practical alternative to traditional building foundations. They can be installed quickly with minimal noise and vibration, wound to the ground in an efficient manner without causing any disturbance to the soil and that eliminates time and cost in soil removal. The Piles are a great option for deep foundations such as transmission/Telecommunication towers as well as lighter load projects such as decks and fences.

  • How Steel Screw Piles Work:

Piles are an environmentally friendly option with the most flexibility and fastest installation comparing to other foundations. To install them we don’t need pre excavation and therefore no need for disposing of tailings.

  • How are they installed?

We are experienced in installing Piers in almost any condition including rocky soil. The Pile is screwed into the soil by a hydraulic attachment to a range of size machines; bobcats, and excavators, depending on the requirements. No soil excavated or removed from the site as the installation is done without vibration, limiting soil contamination. Once the piles are in the ground they remain in place permanently and they are filled with concrete.
Pilling Screw Piles are produced in Australia and are fully compliant with the Australian Standards AS159-2009.

  • Engineering requirements

Foundations are one of the most important parts of a building so great care is taken when designing them.
Building Plan: Clearly, shows how many piles are required and where they are located.
Site Plan: Used to determine what size equipment can be used on-site.
Design Loads: Determines what size helix and type of shaft is used when designing the pile.

Our Results Speak For Themselves

The Underpinning Guide Melbourne design ensures that the load bearing is directly on a solid plate which is a stronger design than any equivalent in the marketplace. Our products have been independently tested by a certified Queensland university laboratory and come complete with full engineering certification.

Screw Piling FAQ

Most are installed between 10 to 25 feet below the soil but may be required to extend deeper if the required torque is not met. We have had some piles installed as deep as 100 feet.

HOW LONG DOES A SCREW PILE LAST? The lifespan depends on the type of soil where the screw pile is installed and it's chemical properties (pH, humidity, etc). Under normal use in average soil you can expect about 75 years.

Screw piles are wound into the ground, much like a screw is wound into wood. This is an efficient means of installation and coupled with their mechanism of dispersing load, provides effective in-ground performance in a range of soils, including earthquake zones with liquefaction potential.

Pile caps create a stable foundation and offer a larger area for the distribution of the building load onto the piles. They act in a similar way to piled raft foundations, where a concrete slab rests on soil which may be susceptible to movement, above a group of piles

Screw-piles and helical anchors are especially useful for support of temporary structures since they can be removed and reused with little to no change in structural integrity.
